Nuts and oilseeds are delivered to processors in different packaging and container sizes. In addition to cardboard packaging, jute or plastic bags are used, which means that strings from the bags also get into the product stream. In a first process step, these are removed by air classification.

In the subsequent processing step, coarse impurities such as pieces of wood and leaves are separated, as is the removal of very fine components such as sand or insect fragments.

In addition to the above-mentioned impurities with a low specific gravity, impurities with a high specific gravity such as metals or stones can also be contained. Two further cleaning steps are therefore required.

Either magnetic separators or metal separators are used to remove ferritic or metallic foreign matter. In the final cleaning step, other contaminants with a high specific weight, such as stones, are removed with the help of a heavy-particle separator.

OVERVIEW

String remover

In the first step, the string remover achieves efficient separation, especially of strings. In an integrated expansion room, light and heavy impurities are separated. This means that the aspiration system is only minimally affected.

OVERVIEW

Sieving machine

Coarse and fine impurities are removed from the cocoa bean flow on a 2-layer sieve in the sieve machine. In an attached vertical classifier, a separation between the cocoa beans and specifically light impurities takes place with the help of air classification.

Magnet separator

Ferritic parts are removed from the product stream by a magnetic separator. The cocoa beans are placed on the surface of a rotating drum that has a magnet mounted on the inside. Ferritic particles stick to the drum surface and are removed from the product flow.

OVERVIEW

Metal separator

The metal separator is used to separate ferritic and non-ferritic metals. Due to the change in an electromagnetic field, a detecting unit finds the contamination in the product and activates an ejection unit.

OVERVIEW

Heavy particle separator

Specifically heavy impurities are removed in the heavy particle separator on an inclined vibrating table with a sieve layer. In addition, an air flow, created by a fan below the sieving bottom supports the separation of cocoa beans and heavy particles. The table inclination and the air flow guarantee an optimal separation.
